November
I have several very dear Polish friends, and something that will be stuck in my head forever is that "November" in Polish is "Listopad".
I think it's a cute sounding word, but also it's pleasantly seasonal for those of us in the northern hemisphere's temperate regions.
Yeah... I think the only format that works for me for blogging is just short snippets of thoughts on various subjects, once every few weeks.
If I'm lucky, a theme might emerge. But I don't think it did this time. Oh well.
I want to keep working on cultivating my friendships and acquaintances from cohost. We have some small foundation, right? Some likelihood that we might get along and, well, obviously nothing is obligated to work out but I want to keep trying to reach out to people once in a while.
It's tough to do it when most of us have social anxiety though. And we're all dealing with a lot right now.
Sorry to everyone I've been too hesitant to contact... it's hard to know what to say.
I hope the door of possibility stays open for a while.
I'll certainly be keeping it open from my side.
I have, however, met one whole cohost mutual in real life.
The organized cohost wake for our region was a little too far away. Not impossible, but the timing and distance made it difficult for personal reasons. And since we were both sad about missing the same wake... we compared locations and made plans to meet up locally instead.
With an eggbug.
It went well. I think I have a new local friend.
On a different subject, not as much progress on the Decker project as I would hope. Head empty.
I would like to finish it by the end of this month, but, uh. Well. Uh oh. Where did the first part of the month go?
I won't crunch. I won't. But I'll try to get the bare minimum done.
It's intended to be supplementary documentation for the kinds of stuff I enjoy making in the program, similar to the backstage area in the Riddle but with more stuff.... and more examples. And hopefully it will be easier to update with new info and more subjects as time goes on.
Here's (probably) the cutest example I've made for it so far:

This Eggbug is inside of a draggable canvas (canvases are image container widgets, and they can also do other things).
Our sweet buggo is kept inside the big rectangle by the rect[ ] module's constrain.
Whenever the image changes it's because Eggbug has overlapped with one of the eight hidden widgets (doesn't matter what kind they are) that are placed along the edges and corners of the bigger area. The script inside of eggbug's canvas uses the rect[ ] module to notice that "eggbug" and "toprightcorner" are overlapping and then the script copies the appropriately squished eggbug image onto the canvas for the current location.
More or less.
Anyway, I hope that kinda made sense. My head is a mess lately.
But if you're into this kind of stuff I hope you'll come and try dragging squishy eggbug around when it's published.
It would be good to get it out before Deck-Month 2 (the December Decker jam) begins... but I won't force it. I'll just try moderately.
I can't even think about what to do for the jam yet....
But! Also kind of interesting, for any enjoyers of Decker's ditherpunk aesthetic.... there's another relevant jam coming up that overlaps with Deck-Month: DITHERJAM which runs from December 5th to 12th. I have yet to publish a dithered Decker project on itch.io, but.... hmm, maybe?
I'm still working on my neocities site, I swear. I have a layout built for a new big section. I just gotta... put all the stuff in it. There's a lot to do.
And then I need to remember how to update the RSS feed... as proof of life, I guess? I'm still out here... I'm just tired.
I've drawn a little bit in recent weeks. Personal work, mostly. Stuff that isn't so easy to post without context.
Goofing off with one or two people or in small discord servers. Cards for two friend's birthdays. A drawpile.
But here are the big highlights.
A (slightly spoilery) fanart of a game you have either played or you haven't.

Intern Vocaloid Eggbug (and Edgebug) performing magnet:

And a rare pen drawing from me, some Decker-related characters and creatures out in the rain:

:)
A final musical note:
My most beloved internet band (the Garages) are performing at Desert Bus for Hope on Wednesday the 13th at approximately 1/4/9pm PST/EST/GMT.
"Anarcho-syndicalist blaseball band" might seem a little inaccessible as a concept but the key point here is that their discography has tons of songs about watching all your gay little friends get scattered to the wind by the forces of capitalism and other malicious entities... and choosing to fight back even if it seems impossible.
Relevant themes, sometimes.
Not sure what songs we're getting but they have historically chosen tracks with broad appeal for Desert Bus.
Anyway, whether or not that's of interest to anyone else... I'm looking forward to it.

"Liście opadają." The leaves are falling.
